Meet Debra McCarra and read about her career path in Global Wind Service. Debra is payroll specialist in US office. Debra has been working for Global Wind Service 3 years. She has been working in the industrial business for about 20 years and has always been interested in the Wind Business. When her daughter went off to college Debra decided to go back on the road into the Wind Business
What were your first impressions of working with GWS?
My first impression was how big the turbines are and impressed with the knowledge and how the turbines are put together.
What does a typical day look like for you?
I process payroll and help GE with offshore project. I work on manifest (crew change) and cabin plan weekly for GE and work on fixing punches, getting with PM for other offshore projects and working with technicians to make sure all payroll information is accurate.
What’s the most challenging part of your job, and how do you overcome it?
I think the most challenging part of my job is getting correct information from technicians. How I overcome is I ask questions to project manager or site manager.
Can you share a moment that made you especially proud?
When technicians are needing to know how to submit their hours or anything in Paychex and they tell me they really appreciate it and that your the best is when I have a proud moment.
What do you enjoy most about your job and why?
The most I enjoy about my job is learning something different every day from a co worker and technicians. I also enjoy the people I work with.
If you could describe your experience at GWS in one word or phrase, what would it be?
Exciting!!
