First Turbine Installed at Noirmoutier Offshore Wind Farm in France.
Global Wind Service is proud to contribute to the successful execution of the Noirmoutier Offshore Wind Farm and celebrate the milestone of installing its first wind turbine. This achievement demonstrates an important milestone in the project and reinforces France’s path towards its renewable energy goals.
Global Wind Service officially began work on the project in December 2024, after being awarded the pre-assembly contract by Siemens Gamesa. The scope of work includes the pre-assembly of towers and HSBM installation, carried out at the Port of Saint-Nazaire.
“I’m proud to see the progress of the Noirmoutier project, and the celebration of the installation of the first offshore wind turbine. We are very pleased that our long-term partner Siemens Gamesa has once again trusted us with a large and important project in France. GWS has been present with a local office in France since 2022, and we are highly committed to supporting the French wind industry” said Thomas Bak Mathiasen, CCO at Global Wind Service.
Located off the French west coast, the wind farm will consist of 61 wind turbines and is expected to deliver 488 MW of clean electricity, enough to power nearly 800,000 households once fully commissioned by the end of 2025.
Over the past years GWS has been involved in several important offshore projects in the country including Saint Nazaire (Parc éolien en mer de Saint-Nazaire), the very first commercial-scale offshore wind Farm in France.
